Nigeria sprinter, Blessing Okagbare has qualified for semifinals of women’s 100 metres event at the ongoing Rio Olympics.
Okagbare came second on Friday night to qualify for the second round with time of 11.16 in the heat won by Tori Bowie of U.S with a time of 11.13 seconds.
Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the two-time defending Olympic champion, had the fastest time in qualifiers Friday night with a time of 10.96 seconds.
Okagabare’s compatriots, Jennifer Madu and Gloria Asunmu however failed to qualify for the next round.
Okagbare will run in the third semifinals of the 100 metres at Rio Stadium on Sunday against Ivet Lalova-Collio (Bulgaria) Semoy Hackett (Trinidad & Tobago) Elaine Thompson( Jamaica) Desiree Henry (Great Britain) English Gardner (United States) Tatjana Pinto (Germany) and Carina Horn (South Africa)
