President Goodluck Jonathan have started strategising ahead of the 2015
Presidential election with his latest and strategic nomination of former
Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, Dr.
Stephen Orhu and Dr. Abdul Bulama as ministers.
Senate President David Mark announced the names of the nominees while reading a letter from Jonathan at the plenary on Wednesday.
The mention of Shekarau's name, who recently dumped the All Progressives Congress for the PDP caused a stir as some senators giggled over his nomination. A man who could not deliver in local government election.
Shekarau’s anger worsened when APC national leadership handed over the party’s structure to Kwakwanso. He was then asked to go and work with the state governor.
He couldn't take it he had to run out. And Jonathan had left Abuja for Kano to formally receive Shekarau into the PDP barely 24 hours after a terrorist attack on a bus terminal in Nyanya, Abuja.
Meanwhile, Jonathan on Wednesday met with members of the PDP Board of Trustees inside the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The meeting lasted till late in the night.
The battle for 2015 has started but the President's fear is that APC has the states with the highest votes such as Lagos, Kano, Rivers, etc.

The nomination of Shekarau was part of moves by the President to shore up support for his 2015 ambition in Kano State. Kano is one of the states with the highest number of voters in the country. It had 5,135,415 registered voters in 2011.
Shekarau was one of the founding fathers of the All Progressives
Congress. He, however, defected to the PDP when his political foe and
the state Governor, Rabiu Kwakwanso, dumped the PDP and joined APC.
