The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the site, in the
Northern Territory and at the centre of Australia, after spending the
afternoon learning about native culture and speaking with
schoolchildren. As the sun dropped low in the sky, they took a short
walk at the base of the rock (left), now known by the Aboriginal name
Uluru, and then posed for pictures (right). The moment recalled
William's parents visit in 1985. Charles and Diana also visited at
sunset and were photographed in this iconic image (inset) which was
printed in newspapers around the world.
