SAXOKAY (Kayode Ogunkoya) is a vibrant young African jazz artist, based in Johannesburg. He was born in Shagamu and grew up in Lagos, Nigeria where he obtained his Primary School education and O’ level certificate.
He later studied Music at the Polytechnics of Ibadan where he obtained a National Diploma in Music Technology (N.D. Music Tech)

MUSIC CAREER
He started his music career as a church saxophonist; he later joined several bands where he learnt more about jazz and African music. He developed a flair for all kinds of African music.
He has played with several bands and choral groups, such as Lovers band, Impression and Gbedu ensembles.
JOURNEY TO SOUTH AFRICA
He proceeded to further his music career in South Africa in 2006, since then he has found the profession more profitable.
He has performed with couple of bands and theatre groups at the State theatre e.g. Sahara band, Olufemi, Naledi King Sliq Angel, Sean Trios band and Exhortation Choir to mention but a few.
INFLUENCE
He was influenced by some great music icons such as Fela Kuti, Orlando Julius, Kirk Whalum, Hugh Masekela, Late Mariam Makeba and mostly by his brother Kola Ogunkoya (Gbedu master) among others.
