APC raises alarm over Jonathan, Jega meeting

Abuja - The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described Tuesday’s meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega as part of the ongoing moves to compromise the integrity of the electoral commission, reports Vanguard.
The party noted that it was wrong for President Jonathan to summon the INEC Chairman to a meeting that was not attended by other political parties.

Lai Mohammed, the party’s National Publicity Secretary in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, said it is wrong for the President, who himself is a candidate in the forthcoming elections, to be summoning the electoral umpire at will, especially when such meetings are populated by his appointees.

He accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its  presidential candidate of seeking to gain undue advantage over others ahead of the elections.
He maintained that whatever briefing the INEC chairman wants to give on the elections must have in attendance the representatives of all the political parties that will participate in the elections.
